NCRC Sleeping
You will need a place to sleep while attending the conference. 2010 NCRC represents a dramatic change in the conference as it is:
a) hosted by a station not licensed… yet
b) in a rural setting albeit a tourist destination (it ain’t no sleepy backwater)
Gabriola Island has a large number of accommodations. Ultimately you will find staying at the conference location “Camp Miriam” will be easy, inexpensive and the most fun. The camp has a wide variety of camping cabins with beds. You will need to bring your own bedding i.e. sleeping bag and pillow.
Tent sites are on the side of the soccer field, so space will not be a problem, booking in advance is only suggested. The soccer field is up the hill away from the noise of the dining hall and the showers and the late night parties … that reminds me we should have a bathroom up there, I’ll check the adjacent swimming pool to make sure it has a bathroom.
The private rooms and private cabins have, at the most, two beds, some are just a queen, some have a queen bed and a twin. Private means privately run , they are in the nearby Surf Lodge, the better rate is to book through us using the registration form.
B&B’s are wide-spread with the more expensive ones on the waterfront and the less expensive …well …not. All are quite good, I hear. the internet is an easy way to find one suited to your needs — a good place to start your search is at www.gabriolaisland.org
Nanaimo has all the hotels you would expect in a town referred to as the hub.

Yes, billeting is a possibility. Billets will be assigned on a needs basis. We have limited billets so we will require a short paragraph detailing why you cannot stay at the Camp tenting.
