Volunteer Broadcasters and Spoken Word on CKGI aka “The Interview” (click to download)

TheNewsRoom11.24β∂†å( click to download  a doc version )

These are working drafts of the station’s spoken word framework and policy as well as an introductory training manual for volunteer broadcasters and programmers who want to concentrate some effort developing the spoken word components for the station.

Written by John Hague who is solely responsible for its content until approved by our Editorial Board/Programming Committee.

Introducing Spoken Word on CKGI

“Spoken Word” is essentially two components of our programming defined by CRTC regulation.

The two components:  “News” including headlines and summaries, news in-depth features and issues in focus/mini-docs.  Spoken Word “Other” includes sports, weather, announcements, self-help series, story telling and radio theatre.  For a more detailed discussion please take a look at our new manual “Volunteer Broadcasters and Spoken Word on CKGI.ca”

And now, “Voices From the Salish Sea, with Celinda Rice and John Hague”

We will soon announce the Gabriola Radio audio stream (128 kbps), which is running right now. Have a listen and determine if you have any problems connecting. If you do have trouble note the computer you are using, the operating system and program.

We will trouble shoot any problems and then when all is tight, link to it on our web page and publicize.

After that we work on a live stream, podcasting, then our own FM channel can’t be far behind : )

We are streaming (128 kbps) the music from our shows plus some additional content we picked up along the way. We cannot stream content with out the creators permission so if you’d like your music or spoken word included send us a comment below or drop us a line.
